A New Era of Transparency in Crypto

46 000.

It’s the number of reported losses to scammers in Defi since 2021.

In total that’s more than a billion dollar vanished into thin air.

And that’s only the visible part of the iceberg. There are billions more lost each year to malpractice.

That’s tragic. Because it ruin lives. And slows down adoption.

And like you, we’ve been victims of scams and rugpulls. Who hasn’t…

For instance, earlier this year my associate and I lost approximately $15,000 in the infamous Snowdog Incident on the Avalanche chain.

And I lost $9,000 in easyfinance hack on the ethereum chain.

Such is the Crypto game: High risk… High reward.

Still — we can’t help but notice: today trust in new crypto projects is at its lowest.

We can see why: how many turn out to be legit? 1 in 1000 maybe. And that’s being generous.

Now we’re surprised that politicians push for more control.

More regulation.

That’s no surprise. Crypto today is the equivalent of the Far West.

Prospectors like you and I looking for gold. But we’re surrounded by Highwaymen. Gangs. Greedy industrial moguls who manipulate the market.

More and more investors get demoralized. They don’t want anything to do with crypto anymore.

And I get them sometimes.

But as an “OG” Crypto enthusiast who’s been trading since 2013 I can’t give up on this space I love. and I know we can build great solid projects.

But we need Trust back.

This is why I gathered a team of 4 brilliant people to launch what I call an initiative for transparency: the launch of several community owned projects.

And to the forefront of this movement is Candy City.

Candy City is the first AMM & DEX on Cronos Chain that gives 100% of fees collected back to the community (Check the details in this article.)

And as such follows strict transparency rules, namely disclosing any spending done by the team on our website on top of public transactions on the blockchain.

We see Candy City as the peak of decentralization.

A community owned AMM & DEX governed by the people who use it.

No shady spendings. No centralized power that can block addresses (wink wink Uniswap.)

So the big question is… How is the project viable and how does the team make money?

And the answer lies in our roadmap.

Because yes: at first the Bored Candy City team will not make money.

That’s a big risk we’re taking but fortunately Bored Candy City is not the only project we’re working on as a company. Right now they are bringing us enough funds to experiment with Bored Candy City while staying afloat.

Candy City is, as such, a statement.

It will serve as an example that 100% community-owned decentralized finance is possible.

And we strive to inspire other teams to build upon this model.

Our team will only be making money at a later stage when we release the NFT collection and a series of Candy themed games for you to play (Check our roadmap in this article.)

Because at this point our mission will have been a success.

With that said the Candy City AMM & DEX will always remain a community owned service.

And we will continue to disclose any and all spendings on our website: audit cost, marketing cost, server cost, etc.

This vision for Candy City is made possible by the team of amazing guys working with me.

We are a Swiss based company made of 5 people.

  • 1 Frontend & mobile developer
  • 1 Backend & blockchain developer
  • 1 Solidity engineer
  • 1 graphic designer
  • 1 marketer & CEO (me!)

When I gathered my team I looked for people with solid credentials and a desire to leave their mark on the Crypto world.

Our devs come from the best schools in Switzerland (ETH Zurich, EPFL…) and have already worked on solid projects you probably know.

And I’ve been interested in crypto since its inception. And had a lot of success during the 2017 bullrun.

At the time I was a financial analyst for one of the world’s largest banks. I used my knowledge to create my first blockchain startup.

Thanks to the money I made I quit my job and started consulting for many blockchain companies, cofounding and creating my own.

As for our choice of launching Candy City on the Cronos Blockchain… It is motivated by 3 factors.

The first one that for you this means cheaper fees and hard to beat swapping speed.

The second one is that Cronos is an EVM chain. As such, it makes our cross-chain roadmap easier to realize.

This means that when Candy City will become bigger we will be able to easily take it to other environments (Ploygon for instance). And leading the way to more transparency and community owned projects.

The last reason is personal. I am what you call an “OG CRO Holder”, I was amongst the first Crypto.com investors since the MCO ICO.

In fact, the first ever CRO I got came from the CRO airdrop to MCO holders.

Cronos holds a special place in my heart and I believe it will soon be one of the leading blockchains on the market.

So let’s build on it all together.

I wish you good fortune my fellow Crofam.

Candidly yours,

Candy Man
